New York State (NYS) water resources face significant threats, demanding
comprehensive and coordinated approaches to safeguard clean water quality and supply [1].
Ensuring the availability of clean, healthy water for future generations will require not only
innovative technologies but also a well-prepared and diverse workforce. Emerging technologies,
including IoT sensors, UAVs, multispectral imaging, underwater drones, battery-free cameras, and
AI, have the potential to greatly enhance water management [2-6]. However, for these technologies
to be effectively implemented, the next generation of scientists, engineers, and community leaders
must be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills. This project aims to cultivate a pipeline
of opportunities in water research and careers by engaging diverse youth—from K-12 students to
college graduates and professionals. By integrating advanced technologies and educational
outreach, it seeks to equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills necessary to sustain
healthy water resources and drive water-related innovation in NYS.
